Frequently Asked Questions

There are hundreds of questions that I could answer for you on this page. But, by contacting my office and setting up a free consultation, I can answer all of your questions as they apply to you personally in 30 - 40 minutes for free. I do not time limit my one free consultation for each client. I am not a salesman for bankruptcy. I want my clients to make informed decisions and to know what is going to happen based on the choices they make in filing bankruptcy. Please contact me and feel free to ask all of the questions you need to help you decide if bankruptcy is right for you.

Now for some random questions:

Q: Who will I be working with at your firm?

A: My name is Paul Choate. I will be representing you throughout the bankruptcy process. I was born and raised in Oklahoma. I am a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, School of Law and am licensed to practice law in the state of Oklahoma. I am the sole attorney at my law firm.

I have had a general practice including family, criminal and real estate law. I have focused on Consumer law for the past three years. I have previously worked as the in-state counsel for a California based debt buyer (yes, I used to sue for credit card companies) and as the in-state counsel for a Nevada based debt settlement law firm (until l learned that very few people were able to make it through those programs). I have worked on both sides of the table and in very different parts of the industry. I now only represent individual debtors in Chapter 7 bankruptcies.

I am married to my wonderful wife Cindy and we have five children, Abby, Ethan, Emma, Isabel, Logan, and Issac. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading and gardening.

Q: How do I contact you?

A: Please click here for our contact information.

Q: How much does it cost to file bankruptcy?

A: I will be your lowest cost option for a licensed, private attorney in Oklahoma. Please click here to learn the details of my fees.

Q: Do you charge for an initial consultation?

A: No, your first consultation is always free.

Q: Can I meet with you in person / with you over the phone/ ...communicate by email?

A: Whatever you need, I am here to work for you. I have three offices to meet clients in or we can communicate in any way that works with your schedule.

Q: Are you a "real" attorney?

A: Yes, this is a real law firm and I am licensed to practice law throughout the state of Oklahoma. I understand there are so many groups advertising for debt settlement, financial assistance or other types of legal assistance. Many of them are thieves or based out of state. I also advertise on the internet and communicate through electronic means. Unfortunately, in today's world you need to be careful who you deal with. If this is a concern for you, please contact the Oklahoma Bar Association to verify my status. My Oklahoma bar number is 21136. I am using technology to lower your costs so more individuals can afford the protection of bankruptcy, not to hide from anyone. I am always available to set up an in-person appointment.

Q: Why are your fees so low?

A: The primary reason is that I only represent debtors in consumer bankruptcy cases. In addition, I maximize technology to complete the requirements of the bankruptcy process. This has resulted in a reduction in fees for my clients.

Q: Why should I hire you? / Are you a "good" Bankruptcy Attorney?

A: I have successfully filed over 1000 cases in the last 6 years. I can assure you I will handle your legal matter professionally and competently. I encourage you to speak with other attorneys to compare our service, experience, and fees. I strive to be professional, friendly, fast, and affordable.
